The Tap Step of the Week (1/22-1/28)

January 28th, 2012

This video features a basic version of the “Cincinnati” tap step. It kicks off a series of demo videos (& lessons) which will feature variations of this popular combination. My goal is to see how many variations I can come up with over the coming weeks!

I hope you enjoy this video…I decided to cover this step because of a request I received from one of my members. Watch the video below and consider becoming a member as well.

The Tap Step of The Week (10/23 – 10/29)

November 9th, 2011

After posting this step I realized that if you aren’t listening for a triplet rhythm it can sound really abstract. As you listen keep these counts in mind:

“uh 1 & uh 2 & uh 3 & uh 4 & uh 1 & uh 2 & uh 3 & uh 4…”

That should help the music of this step come alive for you!

Watch…listen…join…learn.

The Tap Steps of the Week (9/11 – 9/17) AND (9/18 – 9/24)

September 30th, 2011

This week I have added two new lessons to the membership area of eTapDance.com. I know you’ll enjoy playing around with both of these steps.

I’m recording some new videos today before heading back to Georgia next week for a series of school performances on the history of tap. I’ll be dancing and speaking in schools in Dalton, GA. When I return, my plan is to increase the number of videos I record and post each month so definitely email me at Taps@TapDanceMan.com if there is something specific you’d like to see added.

Without further delay, here are the new steps I’m teaching this week:

9/11 – 9/17

9/18 – 9/24

September 15th, 2011

This step is now being taught inside the private member area of eTapDance.com. I can’t stop myself from doing this one whenever I’m standing still these days.

If you want to improve your balance as well as shifting your weight, I highly recommend trying this combination. Just be sure to support yourself if you’re prone to falls.
